Whitchurch Engineering (WEI) performed structural design, permitting, and inspections for the new Fortuna welcome sign on Kenmar Road in the fall of 2013. The reinforced concrete base is designed to support the sign through any foreseeable wind or seismic loads. The facade was designed and constructed by local artist and Fortuna resident, Robert Moeller. WEI donated their time for this project, in coordination with the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce and the Leadership Fortuna class of 2013.
On November 11th, 2013, Ferndale’s Keneth Rasmussen Post No.6353 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United State of America unveiled the new veterans memorial wall. The Honor Wall is made up of bricks engraved with over 300 names of local veterans, both living and deceased. Additional segments of wall are planned in the near future. Whitchurch Engineering is proud to have played a part in a memorial that will stand for many years to come.
Terry O’Reilly, PE, a senior civil engineer at Whitchurch Engineering, volunteered his time to perform structural design and calculations for the wall. Contractor Dennis Del Biaggio of DCI builders coordinated the project and Jif D'Aguanno laid the bricks.
